- Cultural Heritage
Europe is rich in culture and history. Every European country is obliged to preserve its heritage for future generations and to make it accessible.
With several European partners, rbb created the DISMARC project in 2008. Its audio database of the same name can be found at dismarc.org. The database contains over 1,000 audio collections drawn from archives, institutions and record labels from all over Europe. Complete with descriptive metadata in 32 languages, the collection of music audio, video, notation and text is searchable. DISMARC also provides audio and data to the European cultural heritage platform Europeana.
Archive Contents Unveiled
Die Berliner-Mauer-HbbTV-Anwendung ist ein Beispiel dafür, wie Archivinhalte für die Zuschauerinnen und Zuschauer direkt auf dem Fernseher zugänglich werden.
The Berlin Mauer ('Berlin Wall') HbbTV app demonstrates how archive contents can be made directly accessible to TV users.
Within the Europeana Space project, an HbbTV app was developed to present a video dossier about the history of the Cold War. This app enabled the 250 short videos from the rbb website www.berlin-mauer.de to be viewed on the TV screen. The videos describe life in the divided Berlin, and its subsequent reunification, and are drawn from the Deutsches Rundfunkarchiv and from rbb's own archive.
